Like it says above, I’m out in about 2 hours and not motivated to work. Pic is my profile picture at full size!

If you could own any car brand, what would it be? What would be your first order as CEO
![]() 10/06/2015 at 13:46 |

Mercury.
And obviously first step would be to bring it back to life!

Why Q-Tips and not R-Tips?

All depends, African or European?

I actually wish I could be at work, but due to floods I’m pretty much the only person that could get there, so it's cancelled.

Umm.... what was for lunch?
![]() 10/06/2015 at 13:49 |

Interesting Q-uestion. and clearly because R-Tips would R-uin your ears.

300 grand, 6 cars (no more, no less). You can never buy any more, nor sell any of the 6. This is your fleet for life. Go.

What does Montego mean?
![]() 10/06/2015 at 13:50 |

Lame. But so is work today so...

All prices in Euros.

I would fully and properly restore a Cyclone Spoiler II 429
That or a 66 Comet Cyclone, gotta love those stacked headlights and dual hood scoops.

What’s your spirit animal?
![]() 10/06/2015 at 13:52 |

I’m new, so pretty much everything I’ve done is new to me, so it’s not boring at all.

My usual turkey and cheese wrap. Went with boar’s head deli this week, it was quite good.

What would you do if you realized your local Porsche dealership has 2 Cayman GT4s in their used inventory?

If you had to swap a modern motor into the Montego, would you pick a 3.5 Ecoboost, the 5.2 Voodoo motor, Or perhaps even something different and why you would you pick that motor?

Doritos: Cool Ranch or Nacho Cheese?
![]() 10/06/2015 at 13:54 |

Good answer, though neither is a custom as-such. I was thinking more “if you were hacking something up crazy-style, what would it be and how?”
![]() 10/06/2015 at 13:58 |

300 grand?!
Oh boy. (prices are approximate)
Canyon Pickup - 40k
Proper 60’s Mercury Cyclone (restored) - 40k
Cadillac CTS-V - 90k
First Gen Bronco (Restored, built for offroad usage) - 30k
90’s Yukon with low mileage - 15k
Something wacky now - Rossion Q1 - 75k
![]() 10/06/2015 at 14:00 |

Crazy style eh?
HMMM
maybe a wild built first gen bronco with all modern engine/electronics. Off Road Resto Mod?!

Nacho Cheese
![]() 10/06/2015 at 14:01 |

In that case, Would you be able to snag me a retromodded marauder?
![]() 10/06/2015 at 14:02 |
|
I would definitely stay V8. It NEEDS a V8.
It would be a battle between Voodoo and Coyote. The Coyote obviously isn’t at the same level as the Voodoo, but I could still claim it’s a 5.0 then.
Yeah I think the Coyote would win just so I could keep that 5.0 claim.

Same job for 3 years at the end of this month and I run the department. I should be leading my example right now I suppose.

Go spend my hard earned money on something I like instead of POS porches.
![]() 10/06/2015 at 14:05 |

In my name?
It’s the name of my classic car, my 1968 Mercury Montego MX (Cyclone Package).
I do believe they named the car after Montego Bay Jamaica.
![]() 10/06/2015 at 14:05 |

Interesting. Pretty similar to my garage actually.
![]() 10/06/2015 at 14:06 |

Depends. Are you looking for a panther Marauder, or a late 60’s Marauder?
I can say it would use awesome throw back names.
![]() 10/06/2015 at 14:07 |
|
Haha. I was thinking of just questioning why the hell someone would spend that much money and then hand it back in after 300 miles.
![]() 10/06/2015 at 14:07 |
|
I’ve thought hard on this.
I’ll go with the Cougar, because of obvious Mercury Performance connections.
![]() 10/06/2015 at 14:09 |
|
Solid choice.
![]() 10/06/2015 at 14:10 |
|
I was really borderline on including either a Shelby Mustang of some generation or a Corvette.
I like things to be a touch weird though so I went Rossion to round it out.
![]() 10/06/2015 at 14:10 |

I always tend to question why people would waste money on a Porsche....
![]() 10/06/2015 at 14:13 |
|
No, the word in general. And I think you are correct on the source of the word. According to Wiki, the word Montego, as in the bay in Jamaica, may be a corruption of the word “manteca” meaning “lard.” Apparently, lard is one of the items that was often unloaded in that bay.
![]() 10/06/2015 at 14:15 |

I think a V10 from an Excursion would be the best. Lots of torque for such a massive cruiser.
![]() 10/06/2015 at 14:15 |
|
Makes sense to me.
*The More You Know*
![]() 10/06/2015 at 14:17 |
|
HA! Now we’re getting crazy.
And it’s not as big as people think it is, it’s only about a foot longer than the Milan.
I like the Torque idea though as it’s really appropriate for a muscle car. I guess I’m going to get those sub frame connectors....
![]() 10/06/2015 at 14:22 |

Ehhh, it is worse than that in this town. I live in Colorado Springs and it seems that pretty much everyone offloads any RWD car because of the 2 or 3 feet (it is less and less each year, by the way) of snow we get in town over the winter. Everyone burns money... I suggest they burn some money by investing in this town to improve the crumbling roads.
![]() 10/06/2015 at 14:25 |

mmmmmm!
![]() 10/06/2015 at 14:27 |

What would be the first Mercury you’d bring back to life?
![]() 10/06/2015 at 14:44 |
|
Either would work, but I'd prefer the panther
![]() 10/06/2015 at 14:44 |
|
Comet, small and nimble!
Every Mercury would have a Cyclone variant.
![]() 10/06/2015 at 14:46 |
|
Hahahaha.
Or maybe invest in some snow tires!
![]() 10/06/2015 at 14:51 |

Yeah, that’s my one issue with my fleet, is that there’s nothing really goofy in it. I think I’m going to get a Delta Integrale in the next couple years.
![]() 10/06/2015 at 15:05 |
|
Haha.
I think I’d have a lineup of:
Comet
Cougar
Montego
Marauder
Cyclone packages all around too!
![]() 10/06/2015 at 15:06 |
|
That would be a touch goofy!
![]() 10/06/2015 at 15:15 |
|
Indeed. Gotta build another garage on my property first though. I have a pretty unhealthy addiction.
![]() 10/06/2015 at 15:25 |

Why Mercury and not Ford or Lincoln?
![]() 10/06/2015 at 15:34 |
|
Haha, I wish I had more room for garage space....I’m staying here for 20+ years now though (1 year down). maybe after that Ill get a whole barn.
![]() 10/06/2015 at 15:41 |

Honestly?
With the Montego I was looking for a red Torino. Montego was a crazy good price, and an added bonus it was a touch weirder.
For the Milan, I was looking for an MKZ. Couldn’t afford one. Then I looked at the Fusion, the Milan was a better price with more options standard. I would have needed a top trim Fusion to match my options vs the base Milan. So I went with Mercury again.
And I’ve had a great experience with both of my Mercury’s so I became a HUGE fan of them. I stumbled into Mercury but I’m happy I landed there. My grandparents were huge Mercury people too. Classy, but not over the top.
My dad and I have always liked things a little bit different. We never wanted to be the guy who built his car out of 1 catalog order to assemble his Chevelle or Nova or even Mustang.
It’s fun to be a little different. It’s cheaper to get the odd balls up front, I think it balances out finding odd ball rare parts though cost wise.
![]() 10/06/2015 at 15:48 |
|
Great answer. And the fact that the oddball is always cheaper is a nice touch as well. It would be nice to have something at the car show that no one else has.
![]() 10/07/2015 at 09:16 |
|
It’s actually really fun to have something no one else does.
I’ve pulled up to car shows and there’s guys you can tell have been at shows for decades that say “What the hell is that?” when I pull in. They just never see them anymore.

Replying on an old thread because reasons...
But I wouldn’t be so concerned about that allegedly sixteen-year-old catfish. Seeing as her prof pic is a first page GIS result for “girl with braces” and looks nothing like any of the other “selfies” they’ve posted... Not to mention that in my experience as a 16-year-old girl with two younger sisters, I can’t say that “her” posting style follows anything we or our cohorts would do.
There’s no rules against pretending to be a girl on the internet of course, but just not worth the time.

Oh I don’t really care, I just do my best to try and keep OPPO welcoming to everyone. I have no power here (lol) because I’m not a Mod. I’ve just seen enough crap with how poorly they handled a woman with an opinion (gee who could that be...) in the past and I don’t want anyone pushed out or made to feel uncomfortable here. I know Miss Mercedes always hasn’t felt great on here and I try to be welcoming to everyone. The situation with you, and then Travis too made me think twice before putting the OPPO sticker on my car and toolbox. I don’t want to be part of something that’s pushing people out/away.
Leaving because the Mods said you shouldn’t be posting pics of yourself when you’re “under 18” is idiotic . Whether it is her or not they shouldn’t be posting pics of that nature to OPPO. I never even saw the pic in question and have no intention of trying to find it.
——-
All that being said, we really should try and find a time over the winter to all get together! Crazy that we still haven’t met in person given I’ve met Travis on multiple occasions and he’s even been over to our house.
I was talking with another guy on here the other day of doing a light off-roading trip out at Bundy Hill in the spring. You should bring that big K5 along when we figure out when.
![]() 11/19/2015 at 14:52 |
|
Yeaaaa, the whole thing is weird for a bunch of reasons, but to Oppo’s credit it seems like most people are handling it well.
And for sure! Keep me posted, we’ll be around for Thanksgiving weekend but out in NY over Christmas.
Also it’s a hike for you, but Thanksgiving morning is always a huge mud bogging day at The Mounds if you want to bring the little one out to see monster trucks before dinnertime :) We might go too since it’s close to his parents’ place.

Bah, we’re in SC all next week. I just got the oil pain replaced on the Commander, I have to reattach it’s crap plastic skid plate or pickup the upgraded metal ones off a Commander Overland edition so that we can actually take it off road. The oil pain was rusted to the point it was leaking through the pan...its an 08 with like 70k miles. WTF FCA? And I’ve never been off roading, and the Jeep isn’t going over anything to serious with it’s full time “4x4” and 2 inch spacer lift, I’m not even sure whether the Mounds or Bundy will offer more for us to do. Not trying to wreck that Jeep, it’s the wife’s DD.
At least I’ll be golfing sunday while its a high of 35 here....
How long are you in out in NY at the end of December? I don’t work from the 23rd through the 4th haha. We’ll figure something out.
